Hutch appoints new CEO
Hutchison Asia Telecommunications, Hongkong has announced the appointment of Thirukumar Nadarasa as the CEO of Hutch Sri Lanka.
Nadarasa is a 20 year industry veteran who has worked for Hutchison Telecom, Hongkong for 14 years and another four years with Singapore Telecom. He has recently completed an assignment in the Middle East, deploying GSM networks into the Central Africa region.
Nadarasa is also no stranger to the telecom industry in Sri Lanka, having been the CEO of Hutch GSM network for five years, during which time the network was launched. His efforts made Hutch a household name during the early stages of its GSM operation prior to his secondment to Hutchison Telecom’s Vietnam operations in 2007.
Nadarasa has a degree in Electronic Engineering from Loughborough University, UK and two Masters in Management Science and Telecommunications Technology from Imperial College London and Aston University, Birmingham respectively.
Commenting on the appointment, the new CEO stated, “I am pleased to be returning to Hutch Sri Lanka again to lead it to the next chapter of its development. Hutch has recently invested in one of the largest and most advanced 3G networks that already covers all 25 districts of Sri Lanka. I look forward to bringing affordable, high quality wireless data and internet connectivity to people in all parts of Sri Lanka that will allow them to have access to the same global internet products and services that is already available to people in the western world.”
